It’ll be correct to say that the year 2019 has been the year of K-pop and K-dramas. For those of you who are not familiar with the term K-dramas, K-drama stands for Korean dramas. These are television series made in the Korean language and produced in South Korea. Enough of information, right? Let’s get the fun started with this enormous list of the Top-rated Korean Dramas that you shouldn’t and must not miss!

1. Boys over Flowers

Boys over Flowers is a classic teen K-drama drama with loads of romance. The story is about a young, hard-working but poor girl, Jan Di, who gets a scholarship and is admitted to an elite school. There she faces problems being accepted by her classmates and especially by the F4 who are the Kings of the school who no one messes up with. But Jan Di gets fed up with their bullying and tell off the F4 leader Jun Pyo, who later falls for her.

2. Goblin

Goblin is a fantasy romance Korean drama series with a strong supernatural love. Kim Shin is a goblin who is also a protector of souls. At the same time, Ji Eun Tak is a high school student who is living a painful reality. When Shin starts thinking of retiring from the goblin job and doesn’t want to be immortal anymore, he begins looking for a suitable human bride and finds Eun Tak. Eun Tak is in a hard situation but she persists through her life and ends up falling in love with the Goblin. 

3. While you were sleeping

This is fictional supernatural events related to Korean drama series. A girl, Hong Joo is able to see the future deaths in her dreams but never able to do anything about it. Two lawyers, Jung Jae Chan, a rookie prosecutor, and his younger brother, Seung Won, move in across the street. After moving in, they suddenly develop the same ability. Jung Jae has a premonition about an incident involving Hong Joo and his past tutor. He engages in the process of events and saves their life. Then the three individuals, Hong Joo, Jae Chan & Seung Won, start having dreams about each other and try to reveal the mystery as to why they were brought together.

4. Scarlet Heart

This K-drama series was based on the Chinese novel “Bu Bu Jing Xin” by Tong Hua. It is a story of time travel where a 25-year-old girl, Hae Soo, gets transported from the present to the early Goryeo dynasty. There she faces many struggles and falls prey to the conflicts between the royals of Wang’s House. What new challenges come in her way or will she find Love in the past or not? That’s for you to find out in the story. 

5. Strong Woman

This is also a fictional supernatural story about a girl who has super strength. She is recruited as the bodyguard of the CEO of a gaming company Ahn Min Hyuk who is her super big fan and has a big crush on her too. It’s a fantastic romantic comedy with a love triangle. There’s also a rogue mystery going on in the background that only our super girl can tackle. This show will surely leave you with loads and loads of laughter. 

6. Descendants of the Sun

Descendants of the sun is a K-drama series based on an impressive story which showcases the love life of two people with contrasting professions but bound by love. Shi- Jin is the captain of the special forces and Dr Mo Yeon is a doctor who works in the ER department. They fall in love but their romance is short-lived as their professions contradict each other and their views on life, in general, are so different. Shi- Jin kills to protect lives while the doctor tries to save them, so they fall apart. But life has other plans as after years due to a professional conflict Mo Yeon is sent on a medical journey in Uruk where she meets Shi-Jin again. 

7. The Heirs

The heirs is a Korean drama based on an interesting story of the romance between an elite boy and an ordinary girl. When Kim Tan is sent to study abroad in the US, he meets a girl, Eun Sang, in search of her sister and witnesses her every dream being shattered in front of him. When she has nowhere to go, he offers her his home to stay in. The next day his fiancée arrives and asks Eun Sang to leave. When Kim Tan comes back home into his mansion, he gets to know that Eun Sang is the daughter of their housekeeper and who will now work at the mansion. 

8. The Legend of the Blue Sea

The legend of the blue is a Korean drama series based on a fantasy romance of a mermaid which takes place in the August of 1598. Late at night when Dam Ryung stays in an inn and the owner shows him a captured mermaid named Sim Chung. Later Dam Ryung frees the mermaid and they make a strong bond. Then time passes and in the modern world, Joon-Jae is a smooth conman and also the doppelganger of Dam Ryung. The story starts when Sim Chung is swept up by a wave and lands near an oceanside resort and sees Joon-Jae. 

9. W – Two Worlds

This series is a K-drama based on the romance between a fictional character and a real person. Oh Yeon Joo is a surgeon and the daughter of a famous comic book creator. One day her father goes missing and she sets off to his workshop to find him. There she finds a strange young man bathed in blood who kidnaps her and takes her to a mysterious dimension.
