Mirzapur, Amazon Prime India’s fifth Original series premiered on November 16, 2018. The show managed to create a rave among the Indian viewers like none other. The crime thriller is the brainchild of the successful trio: Ritesh Sidhwani, Karan Anshuman and Farhan Akhtar. Subsequently, Anshuman and Gurmmeet Singh directed this action-packed drama that featured Ali Fazal, Vikrant Massey and Pankaj Tripathi in the lead.
The story is based on the lawless town of Mirzapur where corruption, scandals, and drug trafficking reach its peak. One of the visionaries behind such illegal ventures is Akhandanand Tripathi aka Kaleen (Pankaj Tripathi). Similarly, the two protagonists Guddu (Fazal) and Bablu (Massey) soon find themselves entailed in this cobweb of violence and destruction.
Shot in different parts of Uttar Pradesh.
The setting of the show is based on Mirzapur, a small town in UP. Besides, there were some shots from places like Jaunpur, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, and Ghazipur. All this was done to ensure that the series gets its rustic and rural backdrop effectively. While we anticipate a season 2 to the successful franchise of Mirzapur, we cannot help but wonder if the crime drama was actually based on a true story.
