Since the trailer of Panipat released, there has been a buzz about the movie. People started comparing Arjun Kapoor’s Sadashiv Rao Bhau and Ranveer Singh’s Bajirao and Sanjay Dutt’s Abdali and Ranveer Singh’s Alauddin Khilji. The trailer looked pretty much the same to many netizens. However, in a recent interview, the director Ashutosh addressed this and he said that the story of Panipat is different from Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat.
Ashutosh said, “That’s understandable because the last film that comes out, stays in our recent memory. So, Jodhaa Akbar was immediately compared to Mughal-E-Azam, Bajirao Mastani to Jodhaa Akbar and Padmaavat to Bahubali. That’s nothing to be worried about.” He further added, “Also, we are still in the era of the Peshwas in Panipat, which revolves around Bajirao’s next-generation—his son, Nana Saheb Peshwa, his brother Chimaji Appa’s son Sadashiv Rao Bhau and his second son with Mastani, Shamsher Bahadur.”
“So, the costumes and their palace, remain the same but the story is very different,” Ashutosh told Mumbai Mirror. Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, Panipat narrates the story of the third Battle of Panipat. It is being produced by Sunita Gowariker and is scheduled to hit the theatres on December 6, this year. The movie also features Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt in vital roles.
