Set in the sacred city of Varanasi, Asur is a combat between the good and the evil. Sobti plays a former forensic expert at CBI who is in pursuit of a serial killer. On the other hand, Warsi plays his mentor who accompanies him on this daunting journey. Both set forth on a daunting mission to chase down Subh. Subh is a psychopath who misuses religious teaching to kill innocent lives. Further, he places several hindrances on the way of the two protagonists and starts harming the people in their lives.

Barun Sobti as Nikhil Nair

Asur interlinks the contrasting worlds of forensic science and mythology with one another. Similarly, it delves into space where mythology and science make several attempts to overrule one another. Moreover, the story ends on an open-ended note hinting a possible sequel.

A still from the series

This crime thriller has all the necessary elements required to keep the audiences hooked. Intense combat between the two worlds takes place with unforeseen suspense getting unfolded on every space. Gaurav Shukla does a brilliant job when it comes to the narration and the overall narration of the story. Further, Arshad Warsi and Barun Sobti deliver unforgettable performances. They are convincing and give their all in playing their respective characters.

However, the only drawback of Asur remains its cinematography that could have been more appealing. The production design definitely pulls back something that could otherwise be a masterpiece.

All in all, such web series are seldom made and are a must-watch for every enthusiast of good cinema.
