Gurfateh Singh Pirzada has captivated all of us with his startling performance in Netflix India’s Guilty. Pirzada played a young aspiring singer with a college band opposite Kiara Advani. Further, the actor is all set to enter Bollywood in Ayan Mukherji’s Brahmastra.
We had an interactive live session with him on Instagram recently. Here’s what Gurfateh talked to us about.
Gurfateh, what are you doing these days to kill time during quarantine?
I have been watching shows mostly. Further, I have also joined online masterclasses on direction, acting, and screenwriting. I also intend to learn Spanish amid this lockdown since I have ample time. Other than that, I am savoring a lot of Nutella.
What are you watching currently?
I have been watching Ozark on Netflix. It’s astoundingly awesome.
How was your journey from modeling to acting?
Acting was something I had decided on to pursue when I was in school. Modeling was the stepping stone to it. I started with modeling at the age of 20. That was when I had come to Bombay and needed a job. I have walked the ramp for a lot of designers. I must say it did help me boost my confidence, the way I carry myself.
Post that, to be well-acquainted with method acting, I started doing theatre. During this course, I started auditioning for several roles. My first break was with a music video back in 2017. Then I was selected for Guilty. Eventually, Brahmastra happened as well.
Tell us something about your Mr. India days.
It was 2013, I was 18 back then and all of them whom I was competing with was 24 years and above. I am glad I made it to the finals. I remember how my mother traveled on a local train, from Malad to Lower Parel to watch me. During the course, I came across a lot of people from the industry who did help me with auditions and reach my target.
