We got to have a live session with Harsh Mayar amid lockdown. Here’s what he shared with us:
How is quarantine treating you?
Quite normal for me. When I don’t shoot, I like staying indoors mostly. Moreover, I stay alone here in Mumbai so my day passes by doing household work mostly.
How did I am Kalam happen to you?
I absolutely had no connections with the film industry. I used to mimic actors in childhood. My uncle suggested making me join a workshop. There’s one in Mandi House, Delhi. That’s where I had my first acting workshop. To save myself from my studies, I continued with theatre. Though my admission was a very random one, I started enjoying it. People suggested me to go for several auditions. Gradually, I am Kalam happened.
How was the experience meeting our Former President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam?
I was very young back then. Hence, I failed to understand how big a personality he was. I won’t exaggerate. He used to talk a lot in English, beyond my understanding. He had watched both the trailer and the movie and was hence, very appreciative of me. I had met him a number of times. He was a very warm and inspirational personality.
