Now, Marvel had already revealed a lot at the San Diego Comic-Con this year and we were wondering as to what was left to say?

To everyone’s surprise, Marvel actually had some secrets still hidden. At D23 Expo, it became clear that most of the MCU Phase 4 will happen over Disney+ streaming service as they added three new shows to the list. Let’s sit down and look at what wonders are to come our way!

SPIDERMAN

We surely needed some clarity on whether there was any hope of spiderman returning to Marvel and we did get it at the D23 Expo 2019. The issue was not addressed on stage but Feige did talk about it later and said, “It was never meant to last forever. We knew there was a finite amount of time that we’d be able to do this, and we told the story we wanted to tell, and I’ll always be thankful for that.” He also added that he felt ‘gratitude and joy’ about the situation. On the other hand, Tom Holland was also at the Pixar section of the presentation. He also said, “It’s been a crazy week, but I want to let you know I’m grateful from the bottom of my heart. I love you 3000.” So, it’s clear that the time of spiderman at Marvel is, sadly, over.

THE ETERNALS

Marvel Studios finally revealed the full cast of The Eternals, which will almost be a Games of Thrones reunion. Feige revealed that Kit Harington will be joining as Dane Whitman also known as the Black Knight with the previously cast Richard Madden. Actress Gemma Chan will also be joining The Eternals in a lead role as Sersi. Finally, Barry Keoghan (Dunkirk, Chernobyl, The Killing of a Sacred Deer) will play the role of Druig, a master manipulator of energy and matter. Marvel also revealed the concept art and the superhero costumes of the crew.

THE THREE NEW SHOWS – MS. MARVEL, SHE-HULK & MOON KNIGHT

Marvel already revealed a satiating list of shows to be exclusively available on Disney+ streaming service at SDCC but they had more in store. At the D23 Expo, they announced the arrival of three new shows on Disney+ – Ms Marvel, She-Hulk and Moon Knight. According to Feige, these characters will also be present in the movies coming in the future. One of the show’s lead Moon Knight is an intense character battling with powers and personality disorder, which is also at the same time, interesting. She-Hulk is Bruce’s cousin who gets powers after a blood transplant from him. She also gets the same green look and powers as The Hulk but She-Hulk can control her transformations. Ms Marvel showcases the story of a Pakistani-American girl who gets shape-shifting superpowers.

LOKI’S DIRECTOR REVEALED

Without revealing much about the series Loki starring Tom Hiddleston, Marvel revealed its director at the D23 Expo. Kevin Feige shared that Sex Education’s Kate Herron will be directing the Loki series. Kate is famous for her work in comedy and the script will be written by Michael Waldron. It also leads to the speculation that the Disney+ exclusive series LOKI could have a comedic mood.

BLACK WIDOW’S NEW LOOK

At D23 Expo, Marvel also showed new footage of the upcoming movie starring Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow. It introduced us to the new costume for the Black Widow movie, Natasha Romanoff’s suit, which is “white”. It also showcased small footage with David Harbor’s Red Guardian referring to Natasha as ‘family’. Probably, he’s being shown as a Russian replacement for Cap.

FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER’S US AGENT

The first Disney+ show showcases two of the characters closest to Captain America. At the D23 Expo, Marvel revealed that another person important to Captain will be joining the cast – Sharon Carter. Ultimately, we believe that this character will probably help Bucky and Sam take down bad guys. There’s one more addition to the cast as John Walker which will be played by Wyatt Russell. John Walker took over the shield for a brief period of time before he went rogue and Captain took charge. In this series, we may see him taking down Sam and Bucky for the US government and hence being referred to as the US Agent.

DARCY AND JIMMY WOO RETURN TO MCU

There are many theories expanding the scope of the show Wanda Vision that the show will take place entirely in Wanda’s mind. It’s possible that she struggles with coming to terms with Vision’s death and hence, the show. Moreover, Kat Denning and Randall Park will be returning to the MCU in this series. Although their roles still remain a secret, it is surely something to look forward to. The talented Kathryn Hahn will also join them as the ‘noisy neighbour’ as per Feige.

The show explores numerous alternate realities with the original actors as their voice-overs. There was a glimpse of revelation that there will be a Marvel Zombies episode. D23 also gave away Black Panther’s entrance into What if..? as T’Challa was shown trying to steal the power stone in the footage.
