About the story:

She is the newest original series by Netflix India. Imtiaz Ali pens down this crime drama starring Aaditi Pohankar and Vijay Varma. She follows the unforeseeable adventure of Bhumika Pardeshi, a timid female constable who unleashes her true potential once she is recruited for an undercover mission.

Bhumika (Pohankar), a naive constable, is the sole bread earner of her family. She has an ailing mother and an attractive younger sister who calls for trouble due to her recklessness. Bhumika is on a separation from her husband who estranged her for not fulfilling his sexual desires. He eyes on her sister and passes lewd comments on her. Further, her colleagues question her femininity and mock women in the profession of police every now and then. All such instances create a hollow with Bhumika but she is submissive to everything.

Things drastically change when Inspector Fernandez (Kini) appoints Bhumika on a courageous mission to con a famous criminal Sasya (Varma). She disguises herself as a prostitute and helps getting Sasya arrested with her sheer presence of mind. However, in the course of action, she identifies her hidden erotic prowess. Everyone appreciates her and a bigger challenge comes her way. Bhumika now has to play a similar game to bait Nayak, an even more heinous gangster. Hence, the plot constitutes her entire journey of entrapping Nayak as well as getting over with her sexual insecurities.

Imtiaz Ali’s She fails to create a positive impact. The idea of feminism is rather misconstructed than empowered. Though the beginning looked gripping the plot loses its track halfway. Vijay Varma’s character could have made for longer screen space. However, the biggest drawback of the series is its scrappy and wretched climax. Watch it for the commendable performances by the lead actors.
