She is a Delhiite who lived in Andaman and Nicobar Islands for sometime before settling in Mumbai. Her father is an IAS officer while her mother is a retired teacher.

She passed out in Commerce and joined the National Institute of Film and Technology (NIFT), Delhi to study Communication.

Before trying her hands-on cinema, she worked as a photojournalist in Femina. She was also associated with Mumbai’s Pixion Trailer House. Furthermore, she managed her own theatre company called “All My Tea Productions.”

Shweta’s first break was on Disney India’s popular sitcom, Kya Mast Hai Life. She starred alongside Shaheer Sheikh, Ashish Juneja, Sana Amin Sheikh, and Nazneen Ghani. Shweta played Zeenia Khan and managed to gain popularity among the teens due to the chirpy character.

Her first Bollywood movie as a female lead was Masaan. She played the role of Shaalu opposite Vicky Kaushal. Her top-notch acting conferred her the Zee Cine Awards for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Post-Masaan, she appeared in a number of niche films as the lead actress. Her most notable films include Gone Kesh and Haraamkhor opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Shweta continues to work predominantly in web series across several digital platforms. She has appeared with brief yet strong characters in Amazon Prime‘s Made In Heaven and TVF’s Tripling.
